July 20, 2012 10:11 am After my initial shock, disgust and sadness at this news I also thought and feared that we might have the inevitable "experts" trying to make a connection between the "violence" of comic books and comic book movies and the "violence" of this person's actions. It is a typical knee-jerk reaction to events like this which is incorrect and unhelpful to all parties involved. My heart goes out to the families of anyone affected by this. It is utterly horrible and sickening.
July 14, 2012 5:49 pm I'm definitely excited by this news. It's always interesting when 'non-comic people' get involved in creating. Especially when it's someone as creatively innovative as Tarantino. This will be very cool I think. I'll be checking it out.
July 14, 2012 5:42 pm Woaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!! How much cool news in one item? Rucka and Lark + Godfather x Children of Men = awesome. Deconnick and Rios on a spaghetti western - I'm all the way in for that!
July 14, 2012 8:41 am So pleased for Mark Waid and the Daredevil team. Easily my favourite re-launched title of last year, despite the best efforts of DC! Congrats to all the winners - some I know, some I'd like to.
July 13, 2012 7:16 pm Congrats to Kirkman and the crew for getting to this point. I think it's great for the world of comics. As far as the issue goes it was disturbing and shocking and I was sad to see what happened at the end. I found it really affecting. I think Rick might have a battle on his hands in his pursuit to kill Nagen. The look in Michonne's eyes at the top of page 23 is pure murderous rage. While the others are shocked, Michonne looks like she's planning on how many ways she can make Nagen suffer. Can't wait to see how this pans out.
July 13, 2012 7:07 pm @mark It's pretty bad. I had to put the comic down towards the end for a few moments when I read it for the first time. Just to let it sink in. I'm looking at it again now and the images are no less disturbing after seeing it several times. For me it's worse than Michonne and the Governor, but having said that, I don't think it's over the top or unnecessary.
June 29, 2012 5:37 pm Awesome sketches again this week. Cho's Spiderman sketch has absolutely blown me away. It is stunning.
June 29, 2012 5:26 pm I am so glad to hear this news. I stopped reading Detective because the writing was really bad in my opinion. The art was good, but I just couldn't get past the bland writing. I really hope DC put a good writer on the book, someone who can do it justice. This is Detective Comics for God's sake. It should be one of DC's flagship books and it should be written by a really great team - it doesn't necessarily have to be a superstar writer and artist, I'd be happy to see some of the newer creators given a chance, as long as they have some interesting ideas. That said, my dream would be Brubaker writing and Francavilla or Murphy on art. I'd buy that book 3 times over! Or maybe DC could buy Dustin Weaver out of his exclusive contract without Marvel....
May 11, 2012 3:43 pm Skottie Young awesome as ever. Also digging the Batman and Supergirl sketch - very nice. The Maurice Sendak tribute is very nicely done, agree that it is great and sad. December 19, 2011 7:07 pm Woah, this is gonna be an expensive week! Need to drop some books but fear I won't be able to. So many good titles come out this Wednesday - Batman, Daredevil, Wonder Woman, Justice League. And Batman Inc: Leviathan too. Oh man, It's a long time until January payday. BQ: Seem to remember (just about) being awake for 30+ hours at the weekend (not every), back in the days when I didn't need 2 days to recover from a night out.
