April 16, 2013 7:42 pm While I totally adore Snyder and all of the work he puts out there, I think that at the end of the day, it's reactions from his readers such as the ones we're exhibiting right now that will matter most. I obviously can't speak for Snyder, but if I was a critically-acclaimed comic book writer, with or without an award, I'd care a great deal about my readers emotional & personal investment in my work. It's pretty clear that Snyder gets and appreciates what readers want, and the fact that we're sticking up for him like this can't be quantified with a ceremony and a gold award. Reader support and trust means more than any tangible award. To me, that's what comics is all about.
October 10, 2012 3:38 pm I love Long Halloween/Dark Victory Joker. He wasn't the centerpiece, yeah, but Tim Sale brings him to gothic-inspired life. That Christmas present scene in LH kind of just sticks in my memory.
October 4, 2012 12:28 pm I miss Seth FIsher. He had such an amazing, clean style.
July 30, 2012 6:18 pm Anyone who has seen Collateral knows just how amazing Cruise can be as bad guy. I hope he takes on a role as a baddie sometime soon.
June 19, 2012 5:39 pm This is probably going to sound insane, but what about Hayden Christiansen? He would look the part, and if you've seen Life as a House you know he's got serious chops.
May 9, 2012 11:17 am Every time I read Jim Gordon, I like him a little bit more. He's such an inspiration on so many levels. I'd love to give an award to whoever casted Gary Oldman as Gordon in Nolan's Batman movies, because he's an incredible reinforcement of all that the characters stands for in the comics.
May 8, 2012 10:29 am Well there's me, casually passing over the word "Marvel" in the title of the article, looking like a fool with his ego on the ground.
May 8, 2012 10:17 am I always thought that The Phantom was cool, but everyone else I mention the movie to cringes. So The Phantom might be a candidate.
May 7, 2012 11:52 am I picked this up not knowing much about it, and was floored by the end. I will say, though, the narrative was kind of jarring (in a good way) and I felt somewhat alienated after the first issue. But I read the first issue again the second I finished it the first time, and it made everything clear. If the reader puts in the time, this book will pay off huge.
May 2, 2012 5:22 pm The thing I like most about this movie (even though I haven't seen it yet) is how it seems to be bringing the comic community together in near-universal praise for this movie. Scott Snyder recently tweeted that people ask him if he's avoiding Avengers because it's Marvel, and he pretty much said no way, that it's great for comics as a whole. Between this, The Dark Knight Rises, and Amazing Spider-Man, this summer should prove to be stellar. I only started reading comics 2 years ago, but members of this site and the comics community have so much love for the medium, and it's brilliantly infectious. Great review, Conor.
