Unless next issue is mind blowingly awesome, I’m dropping the series. I was excited to hear about Millar and Hitch…

I’m officially dropping this book.  There were way too many moments where I was confused, or angry, or just plain…

So I’m pretty sure I don’t like this book anymore.  I’ll admit, losing Mary Jane has turned out better than…

Eh.  Kind of breaks the spirit of the no tights rules.  Besides, what was the point of the "Red-Blue Blur" story line they've built for two seasons?

I mean, I get it.  I saw last season.  Clark's upset and moody and he has to express himself via fabrics,  But isn't Superman's coloring as much a symbol as the S on his chest?  I liked the red jacket - blue t-shirt combo he's sported since season 1,  because it's reminiscent of his classic costume, without actually being a costume.  The Red-Blue Blur that he's been called in this show is a point of color and light in an otherwise dark and depressed city.  Now, I feel like he just blends in with that darkness.

Here's a shocker:  I've never read Watchmen.  I've tried several times, but there's some inexplicable quality about the book that makes me incapable of finishing the first couple issues.  I think it's a combination of the art, the campy 80's dialouge and the fact that it's required reading for comic book fans (i.e. you HAVE to read this book).

Last week, however, I bought the series as motion comics from iTunes.  The twelve issue run lasted almost 6 hours, and it took me roughly an afternoon to watch it all.  It was very cool, and has made me excited to read the book.  I'm very interested to find out how the three mediums - book, motion cominc, movie - compare to one another.

Ron, it feels like like your five point plan is really just a one point plan in disguise.

1. Start writing "Madrox, Volume 2."

I won't disagree that the Madrox miniseries was absolutely fantastic.  It was a solo-character book, which enabled Peter David to really focus on just one guy and go deep into his character.  Team books don't allow the same level of deep individual focus, and X-Factor is, and always should be, a team book.  No one is crying for Uncanny X-Men to be a book about Cyclops (maybe a bad example, but the analogy remains).  Team books are about relationships, and getting rid of the team in a team book doesn't seem to make much sense to me.

Personally, I'm glad they got rid of Magneto.  Besides adding a level of seriousness and immediate danger to Strong Guy (what is his actual power?), in my eye, if it's not Magneto from X2, it's not worth it.  He really needs to be all or nothing in the magnetic control department.  Not just moving metal, but reshaping it, flying on it, killing with it.  Remember when Magneto escaped in X2?  This guy would need to be doing that all the time in order for him to live up to my expectations.

Also, did anyone see the webisodes on nbc.com before this season started?  There was a three episode thing with a guy named Echo who had Banshee powers and was put in Level 5.  Why would they need to introduce Jesse when they had Echo already prepared in the webisodes?  I mean, I know not everyone saw them, but it just seems redundant to introduc a new character who has the exact same powers as someone else (cough-cough-Issac-and-the-spirit-guru-cough).

Wow, Housewife Sylar looks way cooler than Corporate Sylar.  A middle management Red Skull kind of thing.

The last issue really was a fantastic read.  I haven't laughed that hard at a comic book in a long time.  I think I'm more excited for this than the finale to Captain America.

No, that's just absurd.

September 13, 2008 2:18 pm I've never been a fan of putting an O at the end of an adjective and calling a superhero by that name, but man, "Evillo" just works on so many levels.  I think it's the second L.
September 8, 2008 7:38 pm New Dynamo 5?  Good jumping on point?
September 8, 2008 7:37 pm House of M was Summer of 2005.  Civil War ended in early 2007.  This seems a little ridiculous to me.
