November 15, 2012 12:59 pm Thanks for this. I really have trouble understanding all the negativity out there. I promised myself when I started my site that I would spend my energy trying to show people all the great comics out there to read, instead of doing tear-down reviews and beating up creators. I think everyone could use a little dose of "if you don't have something nice to say, keep it to yourself". Thanks for focusing on the good! Chuck www.whatchareading.com
January 23, 2012 1:09 pm I seem to be pushing this book wherever I go but it fits the bill. It isn't DC superheroes but it is empowering for young girls and a hell of a lot of fun. It's called Princeless put out by Action Labs/Firetower Studios. It's gotten great reviews all over the web (including my site) If your local shop doesn't have it I'm sure they can get it. http://pulllist.comixology.com/powerSearch/?search_query=princeless&f=all&s=titles_asc
September 11, 2008 8:34 pm I'm in New York so I've got a good number of choices. My shop is in Queens (Royal Collectables) no couches but a great staff who take the time to be cool to everyone (they've even handed my 2 year old toys to play with while we're there). They not only remember my name and my daughters but they'll do their best to get anything you're looking for. If I mention a book coming out I'm interested in they order it (for me and the store). That plus having a pull/reserve list keeps me coming back week after week. I may not actually hang out there but they treat me like I do.

So, you don't have a comic shop in your area that will do pulls for you? Wow that sucks, I show up every wednesday take my comics out of my file, look around for anything I might want new this week, pay and go on my way. Much more civilized than a box full of packing peanuts in my opinion.

Also, digital comics will be the death of the industry. Piracy will go through the roof.
