April 16, 2013 5:36 pm Well, that's just creepy. I was literally just driving home, listening to last week's POTW podcast, thinking "I wonder what the guys had to say about Superman Confidential (which I loved)?" and lo and behold, I see this posting. You guys freak me out sometimes...
April 3, 2013 7:22 pm Hey, cool, my email about team books got read, awesome! Thanks for the suggestions on team books, helps a lot! I started reading comics back in 2005, just as Civil War was starting and Infinite Crisis was ending. I was really psyched about the Justice League of America book that started soon after that, and what with my love of all things Justice League, I was rarin' to go. I love watching Supes, Bats, and WW working together along with Flash and GL. However, none of them stuck around very long due to Final Crisis. I think that's where my search for a good team book that went on for a while with few interruptions started, you know, a book where you had time to get comfortable with the characters and were able to see them grow with each other. I was actually kind of pissed that the big three didn't stick around very long in that JLA book, hence my frustration with every other team book that bunts the starting lineup out before you have a chance to care. So, thanks for taking a shot at my question, I'll have to check all those titles out. I've got my fingers crossed for Justice League, Justice League Dark, and Earth 2 sticking around for a while, but who knows. I was really excited at the idea of Green Lantern: New Guardians, and look what happened with that within a year. Keep up the good work!
July 19, 2012 11:44 am Love the Beyond universe, was worried when they announced the New 52 that Beyond wasn't listed, but man they brought it back with a bang! Love how you get three stories in one issue. I think my favorite line was when Terry realizes that apparently Bruce hooked up with Bekka at some point. Terry: "A QUEEEN? Bruce, you dog." Bruce: "..." Looking forward to this series sticking around for a while.
July 6, 2012 2:18 pm I know it may not be a 'Best Panel', but I laughed out loud when Black Panther backhanded Tony Stark in AvX #7. Kinda wish it had shown up here...
September 30, 2011 12:35 am Way to go Paul, you made it through all four weeks! You should get a trophy, or at least a gift certificate to your favorite restaurant. Out of the six books I picked up this week, Aquaman was my favorite, Firestorm was the most "meh" and the others fell in between. After the final tally, it looks like the books I'll be sticking with to the end of the first arcs (it's the completist in me) are: Justice League Justice League Dark Action Comics Superman Detective Comics Batman Batman and Robin Nightwing Stormwatch Green Lantern Green Lantern Corps Green Lantern: New Guardians The Flash Aquaman Wonder Woman Swamp Thing The Fury of Firestorm: The Nuclear Men Blue Beetle Animal Man Top 5 so far (in no particular order) are Justice League, Wonder Woman, Animal Man, Batman, and Action Comics. Bottom 3 are Firestorm, Stormwatch and Blue Beetle, which is a shame, because those are the comics I was most excited to read, never having read them in their own books before. Once the first arcs are done, I'm sure this list is gonna shrink quite a bit. Oh well, considering I'm only reading like 3 Marvel books right now, my wallet's not hurting too bad!
June 2, 2011 9:03 pm Loved that they threw in the Nolanverse Bat-cycle. The art is still wonky to me, but I'll give it a little while longer. Love the world and the characters, so I hope things just get better.
May 11, 2011 11:55 am I'm liking the fact that it's only going to be 5 issues long, rather than 7 or 8 like most events have been. Hopefully that means it'll be a fast-paced, fun, tight story. Probably pick up the Supes, Bats, and Aquaman tie-ins, and wait and see how the others turn out. Seriously though, 20 tie-ins (minis and one-shots) for a 5-ish main story? Seems a little excessive.
May 5, 2011 9:19 am Well, hello Blight! How have you been? I liked the story. Nice balance for Terry of intrigue, personal problems, and snarky stuff with Bruce. Looking forward to the next ish!
