BornIn1142

Name: Kaarel Jakobson

Bio: An idealistic cynic, a hopeful pessimist, a stupid intellectual... Truly, BornIn1142 is a man of contradictions. Hey, is anyone actually going to read this? I'd be surprised.I'm a guy from Estonia (and I don't blame you for not knowing where that is) currently studying in Scotland. There's really not much more to say. Comics and anime are my two main interests, but I'm also an 'aspiring writer' in the same sense as half the Internet seems to be. Mostly novels/prose, but I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't loooove getting into the comics business. I'm a bit of a douchebag, as you'll notice.

I love the new X-Men status quo. I love the idea of so many mutants, major and minor, stuck together…

The first eight issues of Red Robin have been defined by two things: the very decent action, and the constant,…

March 16, 2012 10:44 am I wonder if Shimizu drew the words herself or if the letterer pitched in?
March 2, 2012 9:23 am What about that Unwritten cover ISN'T perfect? The beams of light seem to mesh with the wings and golden hair seamlessly. I like the perspective a lot too.
February 28, 2012 12:31 pm I like how the main POV character is shuffled somewhere in the back while the fan-favorite takes center stage.
February 28, 2012 11:15 am I'm a little confused what the criteria here are... The "No. 1" entry seems to assert that this is a list of notability/infamy, not writing quality?
February 18, 2012 4:26 am Yes, latch on to that and ignore everything else he said.
February 17, 2012 5:40 pm Note: that should read "far less resonable people," obviously.
February 17, 2012 5:39 pm Yes, that's precisely the point. According to this article, there's something wrong with the people who get over this ridiculous and tiresome hang-up, as opposed to the far more reasonable people that LET an incidental writer's whim from decades ago "ruin" a character for them and refuse to see the big picture. How does this make sense? It doesn't.
February 17, 2012 1:50 pm I don't think you've read many stories featuring him, Jeremy.
February 17, 2012 1:49 pm This must be the first time that a What's Wrong With You? article rails FOR the very attitude I would expect a What's Wrong With You article to rail AGAINST. This attitude that one mistake - disproportionately small compared to other ones from the same storyline - renders the character beyond redemption is frankly shocking to me. In the context of real life, it's even slightly disturbing. For the record, Josh, do you regard Spider-Man and Mr. Fantastic as "ruined" characters as well?
February 16, 2012 12:08 pm I'm sorry, what? Is that last one supposed to make some kind of really satirical point or am I supposed to take the disingenuous ignorance at face value?
