January 12, 2012 10:49 pm Having worked in a used bookstore and multiple libraries, I love all the wonderful, musty smells of books. Strangely, so does Chanel designer Karl Langerfeld who is creating a fragrance called "Paper Passion" that captures this scent!

December 26, 2011 6:30 pm Santa must have studied the iFanboy holiday gift guides, because I got a ton of comic related items! These include: The Martini Edition of Parker, Absolute New Frontier, The Spirit volumes 1 & 2 (obviously I love Darwyn Cooke), and a Wonder Woman Funko doll. There were also some great literary related gifts from outofprintclothing.com and a custom Shakespeare stamp for my classroom. It's the Macbest!

September 10, 2011 8:12 pm I could add another horrifying comment about retailers who are sexist/douches/lacking people skills, but let's go back to Josh's point about bad BUSINESS. This summer, I was trying to collect all the "I am Captain America" variants for my classroom. The shop nearest me is not a favorite, but they have a large inventory for variants and such. I don't even mind that they jack up the variant price. I spoke with the owner to pull all the issues for me, filled out a form to make my request official, but he never had a single issue set aside for me to purchase. If I was lucky, there were still some on the shelves; if they were sold out, he never offered to help me procure a copy. By the end of the summer I had missed out on about half the run and he had missed out on a bundle of my money (as he now continues to do). The bottom line is this: you run a business, not a batcave devoted to your hobbies.

September 2, 2011 3:18 pm My store also gives a discount to kids/teens who bring in a report card with all As. As a teacher, that makes me very happy to support their business. Plus, hook 'em while their young and you ensure future sales! ;)

August 22, 2011 2:05 am I may have to read that JLA issue because I love meta commentary. The 'flashbacks to things we never saw' concept was also used this year in one of my favorite episodes of "Community." And speaking of television, Bentley may be the worst reality contestant ever. Let's hope the Bachelor never goes Bad Girls style and makes a comic book.
