No. I think the only way someone claiming to be a fan of something could be not meeting the "minimum level of committment" would be to have never consumed anything related to said topic. And again I ask, why does it really matter?

October 23, 2012 10:37 am I think I've moved past anger at the "fake geek girl" meme and into just exhaustion at having to argue the same points over and over again. The problem with the fake geek GIRL as opposed to a fake geek in general is that *in my experience* a male geek tends to be accepted off the bat before it is discovered that he is a "big fat phony" whereas as a female the default assumption seems to be that we are faking and have to constantly prove to them otherwise. My question is WHO CARES? Sure, there may in fact be some people faking being a geek. What does that matter to anyone else? Does that really hurt your own experience so much? And if so, why?

September 11, 2012 9:23 am A big problem seems to be (in my personal experience) that being a female comic fan many of the guys assume FIRST that I am "feigning interest" until I can prove otherwise whereas for other men it is usually the other way around.

August 14, 2012 4:01 pm I was gutted to lose Gillen and the adventures of Kid Loki and expected to drop the title when they finished, but I am totally on board for this new direction. Very excited for a new female led Marvel series!
