I enjoyed this issue a lot, it is a good prequel to how Blade joins the XMen, and you get a sense of the real danger the vampires pose as a threat in this story, if not individually but by their sheer numbers, which is something that is lost in the current Shadowland series where the Hand ninjas are handled like fodder for anyone who goes up against them. Then that there are different sects of vampires that I’ve never heard of continues to intrigue me in this series. I would’ve thought Blade would’ve been smart enough to have figured out the talisman were allowing the vampires to be day-walkers given his extensive experience and history as a vampire hunter though.

My gripe about this story continues to be Blade’s feeble reaction to the XMen’s plan to resurrect Dracula. I mean this is the one vampire that’s been the scourge of the Earth for centuries, the king of kings of vampires, the very bane of Blade’s existence as a vampire hunter, I would think he would object very strongly to that plan, even going so far as fighting the XMen over it. He just sorta acquiesces without much objection at all, which was not very thoughtful writing to me. And again, you wouldn’t replace an Osama with a Saddam, or a Hitler with a Kim Jong Il, the plan doesn’t make sense anyways.
