Thunderstrike is turning into a true guilty pleasure book. The art and writing are straight out of the ‘90s, and though that’s a period most comic fans would rather forget, it’s astounding how much fun this series is. In terms of quality, it’s not especially original or enduring, but there’s something about it that just enthuses me to keep reading. The major problem with the series is the protagonist, who remains just as obnoxious and world hating as he was in the first issue; that’s extra points for consistency, but a black mark for making a character likeable in any way. That, and Steve Rogers feels out of place in this world. Yes, it’s nice to see him here and does it add a sense of continuity to the proceedings, but it just feels strange and unneeded; his appearance in this issue doesn’t help the story along at all, while his cameo in the first issue actually meant something. At the end of the day, this isn’t the best book on the stands, by any stretch, but it’s worth a look for the sheer scale of enjoyment it provides.

Story: 3 - Good
