After a very strong first issue that introduced a story occurring in the past, present and future this issue focused mainly on young Thor. We finally meet the "young" god killer, who is apparently Lord Valdemort with a shape changing Venom symbiote. We see Thor's initial meeting with the god killer, and at the same time hear a story from Thor's past about a similar run in with an Asgardian mass murderer. I believe this is to allege that this is why Thor is able to keep his wits about him and become the Asgardian version of Harry Potter. It worked on every level. This comic is set in its own pocket of the Marvel U and gives me all the things I love about Marvel: a sort of "What if?" future world, some high powered drama and a reimagining of existing mythos.
