Supergirl has had approximately 87 new directions since this volume began. And each new direction has been better than the last. This Kara is getting closer to the Supergirl I've always loved - she's coping with the trouble's of being Superman's cousin, adjusting to a new society, and has to deal with growing up. She's been through a lot, but she keeps trying to do the right thing.
The issue starts with Cat Grant's article on why the world doesn't need Supergirl, using many of the same complaints that the readers have had with the series since its inception. Kara has to cope with not being wanted in Metropolis by the people, and also her own feelings of alienation. Instead of sulking or losing her temper like she might have a few issues ago, instead she turns to a support network, ranging from Superman to Robin to Wonder Woman to Lana Lang.
And when it ends, it gives you hope that this Supergirl might end up proving that yes, the world really does need a Supergirl, and that she is worthy of the title after all. Kara, or Linda Lang now, is trying to better herself and be worthy of the symbol she wears. And that is a direction of the book that I can totally get behind.
Plus, the art doesn't make me want to feed her a sandwich. Which is always a plus in my book.

Is she wearing the cover costume in the interior art?
@JumpingJupiter Pretty close to it, but the skirt is longer inside. And unlike the older versions she a) looks close to her age and b) you can’t count her ribs.
Great last par!
I really liked the way this issue fit with the continuity of the two Superman books perfectly. If this is how it is going to be from now on I will definitly jump on board. I haven’t read much Supergirl until this issue, so I don’t know much about the many changes in direction, but this feels right to me. I also like the fact that she is building a support network like you mentioned. A strong supporting cast can only make the book stronger.
