So yes, this issue was pretty good. I've been loving Gail's run on
Secret Six and I used to read the occasional issue of Suicide Squad
when Ostrander was doing it back in the day and this was a great.
I love how pretty much scum she keeps the Six. I mean they have a few moments of not being complete bastards, but, by and large, they are just glorified mercenaries that will take most any job for the right price. I especially liked how Deadshot dealt with the female shooter
As for the Squad side of things, ever since JLU I can't read anything with Waller in it without hearing it spoke by CCH Pounder, and this was no exception. I honestly don't know what the current status of Task Force X is, but it seems interesting. A little bit of back story on what was going on would have been nice. And I'm not familiar enough with the comic to know who rose up at the end.
The art was fantastic though. I really think that Jim Caliafore is an underappreciated artist. I loved him on PAD's Aquaman and he had some really great fill in issues on Exiles when it was still good.
The only real problem I had with this issue is how there was either too much set up or not enough of the right kind. For a Blackest Night tie it really seemed to lack zombie action until the very end and I as I said, I didn't know who the zombies were. I have no idea who the doctor was or who he was dissecting.
Still, I really liked it and I hope the resurrected titles are all this fun.
