The Dark Tower is one of the greatest series to come out right now. Whether it’s the prose or comic versions, there is fun to be had in no matter what you read. But Stephen King has allowed Marvel to adapt one of his other greatest peices of work. The Stand is a sprawling epic that is literally 1,000 pages long. It’s a taunting task to adapt such a long novel into a five mini series. But what Sacasa has done with this comic is make us appreciate just how great King is as a writer.

This issue was pretty standard, nothing exciting like the last issue which focused on the spreading of Captain Trips. We still got two more issues left in this mini, but that’s okay, because most of the time this mini will be for introducing characters for later events. This time we mainly focus on a bunch of thugs who failed to rob a convience store and how Stuart (the man who is being experimented on) wants to escape. It’s basically a set up issue for the huge catastrophy the next issue will provide, but it gets the job done.

Mike Perkins is a artist that should be getting more praise. His pencils are so realistic, it’s almost like looking into a photograph. His characters never look alike and with the little action we have in this issue, he handles it well. Hopefully Perkins will continue with the next set of mini’s cause I cant see anyone else taking over.

This is one of the best titles Marvel has to offer. Since they’re Dark Tower adaptations have been knocking people out of the park; they are 2 for 2 in terms of Stephen King. Even if you arent a fan of his work, you should pick this and Dark Tower up. Cause there are no comics out there that reads and looks like this out there.

Story: 4 - Very Good
