After reading Brian Reed’s pretty good ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ tie in I saw his name once again for this story. To keep it short and simple: Dont buy this.

I mean it. Dont buy it, dont borrow it, dont touch it, dont even look at it. It’s a waste of time and effort to even flip one page of this.

I think Marvel had a great idea with this Front Line series. Bring the big events down to the ground and focus on the normal people. Not on huge battles with superheroes, but with everyday citizens. It sounds like a good idea considering how many events Marvel does every year. But I think the problem is, is that the writers just dont seem to know how to stretch this for 5 issues. Why not make this two issues, or just one big issue? We dont need to really have a major storyline. Just focus on the group of citizens trying to survive in a warzone. Instead we focus on politics, personal problems (when there is barely any character development), and maybe even get people to fight these huge problems….when that means realism is out the door. Now obviously aliens attacking a major city isnt real; but that’s what this series should convey. A real life look into what would happen if a massive fleet of aliens tried to destory the city.

Here’s the biggest thing that bugged me about this entire story. When I saw the artists involved it occured to me there were a lot of them on board….Then I saw the company title of ‘CG Studios’….What’s CG Studios? Apparently it’s a computer based company that specializes in films, tv shows, and more importantly….art. So is there really a pencillier? Is there really a colorist or letterer? I mean once I see the term ‘Team Coordinator’ what is that suppose to mean? Is he telling people to do the art…or is he telling the people on computers to do the artwork?

It’s a trend that is most likely going to be a permanent one in the distant future. But when there is more computer work involved instead of actual people….That is when I will completely lose interest in the industry.

Story: 1 - Poor
Art: 1 - Poor
