I wanted to say a couple of things about this issue, and some of them may contain spoilers, so I thought a review the best way to handle it.
Firstly, I like the idea of an Oracle solo book. I was just a bit disappointed. Not so much by the gratuitous shower scene (it could have been cut out completely without affecting the story, that's what gratuitous means), but more by some of the stupid ideas.
Firstly, The Calculator couldn't have picked a stupider alias. More to the point, Babs had to look up who Babbage was?
Aliases rejected by the Calculator:
Jacquard
Lady Lovelace
Admiral Grasshopper
The Texas Instrument
HP41C
LEO
HAL-9000
Calculon
THX-1138
Then, it turns out that the Anti-Life Equation works much the same way as Snow Crash from the Stephenson novel of that name. (Interesting sidenote: Snow Crash was originally written as a script for a graphic novel that never got made.) Except it makes the user's head explode. Really? I'm supposed to take this seriously?
I was hoping this book would be better. I may well get the next one to see what happens, or maybe wait for trade. Disappointing.
Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
Art: 3 - Good
while the exploding head was a bit of a surprise (especially since the anti-life never worked that way), it seemed like your babbage issue is a bit of a nit-pick – she looks it up to explain it to the readers.
