Well I cant say for sure if we’re in the home stretch of this Gog storyline yet. I mean, this is part 102 of 144….So it’s tough to say if anything major really happenend here.

Dont get me wrong, I love JSA, it’s been consistantly one of the best DC titles out for months. But sadlt this Gog stuff has been running a bit too long and we still got ways to go. Maybe it’s just because I’m not a huge fan of Powergirl that these last two issues (and annual) have been a bit medicore. It’s compelling to see Power Girl might be in Earth-2, but when we’re revealed that this isnt the true home for her…well it feels like we wasted a lot of time here.

Overall it’s definitely been the art that has been inconsistant. Jerry Ordway and Bob Wiacek does the penciling and inking seperately when we see the pages of Earth-2….Now why did this have to be? It gets jarring when we flip back and forth between the characters and universes. When you see the two page spread in the beginning, you can see what I mean. Why couldnt Eaglesham/Massengill (the regulars on JSA) do both sides of the story? Ordway and Eaglesham’s styles look nothing alike and it’s just overall confusing. I know we needed to see these two sides look different from eachother, but you could’ve done it in more ways then this.

To me, I just want this thing to be over. It was fun at first but now this little mini event has gone on for too long. The idea that all the members choosing a side is boring and uneventful, plus Gog himself wasnt even in this issue! Sadly with the fact that 3 seperate one shots are coming out and we still got a good 2-3 issues left in this title alone for the arc….It’s still going to be a very long time before we see something different from Johns.

  1. I feel like this was done to keep the monthly schedule but give Englesham a little more time to do all the year’s other books. Whatever the reason, I agree, it didn’t work
