There is no way to say this nicely ...this book sucks . Matthew Sturges , whose work on Fables I love, just does'nt seem to know or even like the charecters he is writing about .  In the first story arc he is using one of my favorite villans and no it is'nt the soviet bad guys , but suffice to say he is a bad dude . But why said bad dude has developed a love for an underage Stargirl is ...well its stupid .  The charecters are constantly bickering with each other and it seems like the only reason for this is because all teams bicker nowadays . There is no family feel like the JSA book had when Geoff Johns was writing it .

  The roster aslo confuses me Magog , Wildcat , Steel , Hourman etc... it is almost like Sturges just put name on a dartboard and whchever ones he hit he used . The writing is so disjointed and frantic that you get no real feel for the charecters , who are almost all unpleasent and immature . The constant fighting between Magog and Power Girl is just awful , I have no idea if there is supposed to be an underlying current of sexual tension or if both charecters have regressed back to high school .

  Also could someone please explain to me why Sturges mad e Magog the leader of the team . I mean he is one of the society members with the least experience so in Matthew Sturge's world that makes him qualified to run the team . Why not Power Girl or Hourman ?

 The art on this book while not near as bad as the writing is'nt very good either . Maybe it is because everyone in this book looks like they wake up in the morning and eat a truckload of steroids . Come on Freddie gives us a break , not every super hero is hulk like in proportions . The fight scenes are not good either , it looks a bad image fight scene with the guys assuming muscle poses and the female heroes looking like bad lingerie models .

    I was excited to see this book at first but the first 2 issues have not impressed me at all .I can only hope that someone else can make this title worth reading .
