Well here we are, the third volume in the series. The first two I thought were great and in case you forgot lets recap. The plutonian(basically superman),this all powerfull  being has gone rogue and nothing and no one can stop him. BUT! at the end of the second volume we find out that someone can beat him. And after the beatdown the plutonian gets he goes into hiding and thats were we pick up in this volume.

To me this volume is like the second act in a movie, not much happens in the way of action(there is one big fight scene) or resolution but  its still important because it sets up everything that is going to happen in the third act. So this volume just seems like it seting everything up so that the third act can kick ass(hey kids thats a comic book too….sorry,I’m reading to much amazing spider-man). I still enjoyed this volume but I felt at the end of it like I was shutting off a movie right befor the climax, which I guess is what they want so you buy the next volume but still it just felt like a lot  of build up and I can’t wait to see where it goes. I love mark waid and have since superman birthright so I know he can tell a story but I am thinking how much longer can this series go on, I mean at some point they have to beat the plutonian and end it.  I don’t want them to drag it on until everybody gets so bored with it that it gets cancelled.       I want resolution and I think they should do it soon. And that brings me back to what I was saying about this volume feeling like a lead in to the final act. I think the next couple paperbacks should end it. I don’t think this series can do what invincible can do and go for like 12 paperbacks.

I don’t if its just that fact that I havent read volume 2 in a while but the art certianly felt like it was much better from the previous volumes, not to mention the covers, and the thickness of the paper, it just seems to me like they really stepped up the quality of the paperback all together.(which is kinda funny cause I found this volume the worst out of all three so far) Anyways don’t take the fact that I think this is the worst volume out of the three that I think this is a bad book. I liked it and I do reccomend it to people who have been following it just be prepared to really want to read the next volume because this one really slows down and feels like alot of set up for the big final to me.  Still they did give you some new information to chew on and there is some cool moments in this volume.  I am hoping in vol 4 that they really get to the meat of the story and anybody who is following the issues knows whats comming but for me and anybody else just reading the paperbacks, we shall wait and see.

I CAN’T WAIT FOR THE VOL 4

Story: 3 - Good
Art: 4 - Very Good
