This book was a surprise for me - well, a few surprises, really - which turn out to be an overall very pleasant surprise.
I did not knew it was coining out, so that's the first surprise. I paged through it on the shelves, and it looked pretty good, so I went fr it. MAN, the story rocked, so that was the second surprise.
The third surprise is how much I am looking forward to following the rest of the series. I don't normally read digital comics, waiting for their print release instead. But now I am sorely tempted to read on ahead of the print-versions.
Art-wise, I was not very impressed, The art was serviceable. Nothing special and I see no real stand-outs here.
The writing was great. I felt into the story at the first panel and I think the voices of the characters as well as the tension created in the plot were both very entertaining.
This is the kind of comic I look for- one that engages me and leaves me wanting more. It features good character moments and plenty of tension, drama, and action.
I wish the art was better, but I am very pleased with this purchase.
Note that this is an "Elseworlds" sort of story, which I have no real love or disdain for - I can take them or leave them - but I'm glad this is NOT set in the New 52-verse, which is losing a lot of my love and buying dollar of late. Alternate takes on the DCU are becoming more attractive to me than the New 52 DC titles.
My PotW.

Key moments of this story:
Jimmy Olsen, Lois Lane, and Lois and Clark's unborn child are killed off in the first issue, which sets up the whole world to come in both the comic and the coming game.
Batman plays a key role and we can see that the World's Finest team will finally come to heads (again) in this story.
The Joker sets off the destruction and mayhem in grand style and Harley Quinn has a few funny kines. The Joker gets in a good zing on Batman, too.
Other members of the Justice League - Wonder Woman, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, and The Flash are on-hand to help out.
(A minor quibble - Couldn't The Flash and GL have at least tried to find the missing warhead instead of just stand there in awe? I know they only had a few seconds to do it, but still ... )
A very good use of The Scarecrow's fear gas is the catalyst for Superman killing Lois and their unborn child.
Very good story elements you won't see in the "normal" DCU.
All of which leaves me looking forward to the forthcoming issues.
Not that I need character deaths to excite me; Lord knows we've had enough meaningless deaths and resurrections in comics. But in the scope of this series, the early deaths of those closest to Superman are vital and can only lead to more action, drama, and character-driven story moments.

(Sorry there are no indents or spacing in this. Anyone know how to format those in?)
It should be mentioned that this is in support of the forthcoming video game. Also, it should be mentioned that the basic plot of the game seems to be that of Squadron Supreme.
