We’re in the third issue of the series being bi-monthly. Although this is only part two of this particular arc. Sorry to confuse but this only the second issue of the Hercules adventure. We still got two more issues of Cho’s story to finish. Anyways, we’re at the point where the Mighty Hercules is about to confront the Queen of the Elves and of course….there are sexy results.

Pak and Van Lente are doing a great job mixing up the mythologies here. Seeing Hercules and Zeus in a Norse setting still tickles my fancy. Especially when they are bantering back and forth on Greek topics while fighting trolls. You’d think one of those trolls would listen in and realize that this isn’t the real Thor. But enough of that silly idea, we get to the part with the Queen elf and that’s when this title gets me. Not because of the sexy design by Brown but I love the trails Hercules goes through here. Especially because the Queen just wants him to win for the heck of it. Him beating the ‘unbeatable’ chess game or getting two out of three goliaths is just funny to read. Also, there is a great use of pop culture (with a Hobbit reference) and a use of Warriors Three. If the Warriors Three are involved in a comedic role then this is a major positive.

There really is a great artist involved with the title. Reilly Brown is just perfect for this particular arc because he’s amazing at the Norse creatutres. Trolls and elves looks really good (and I’m not just talking about the Queen *growls*) and the action really heats up when fighting is involved. But I also love the backgrounds in this series. If there was a medieval comic out there and Brown was artist, then it would be an amazing looking comic. You have to pick this series up for the art, it’s like reading painting at points.

Although we still got an issue left, this has been a great little arc for Hercules. A nice blend of Norse and Greek mythology with a touch of insane humor by Pak/Van Lente. Then you mix in some fantastic art by Reilly Brown and you got yourself an amazing looking comic book. Considering where this issue ends, with a great cameo, this is going to have an amazing ending. If you want to see Thor in Hercules garb and Hercules in Thor garb; then this is the comic for you.
