This story is a lot of fun to read. You have most of the typical elements needed in a good revenge story: 1)a dead relative that’s directly the result of anothers greed, 2)progeny that wishes to avenge said loved one.  Now, get a hand full of interesting characters, outstanding art, and a solid sci-fi script and you get Ignition City.

Ellis is doing outstanding work with this book due to his quotes.  “They are stupider than mud that’s been fucked by a donkey”.  Hysterical narrative.  Then you have other more heart warming quotes like, “Yes. And you hugged me. and my grey heart grew twenty years younger, in that moment…”.  These are examples of a great way to spin a tale, with quotes and phrases that stick with you and conjure emotion in the mind and heart of the reader.

I can honestly say this is some of the best, and more moving, stuff that Ellis has written in a long time.  Less dark and gritty than most of his work of late.  It’s refreshing as an Ellis fan to see his ability to diversify his writing on cue.
