Alright. My first review. This will be fun. Let me just preface all of this with a little thought. I am new to comics. I read a little when I was a kid and grabbed a few here and there since, but I just started really reading them less than two months ago. It probably started when the local comic shop handed out a couple free comics at the midnight showing of Iron Man. Now that I think about it, that was a very shrewd move. Too bad I know spend $35-40 at their competitors. I'm already rambling. To the comics!
I really enjoyed this book. The Huntress is a character I kind of know from childhood Batman cartoons, but getting to see the beginnings really inform the character and her actions later down the line. Issue #3 starts off where #2 left: in the basement of the opera house. Helena makes quick work of the bad guys and saves the damsel in distress. Standard-issue. She then learns that the butt she kicked was Mandragora, the biggest boss of them all. After Helena gives the damsel some money and tells her to get out of the country, we switch to Mandragora who has killed his wife for her cooking. Alright, we get it. He's evil. He's convinced that some thugs took him out and that Helena is still ignorant, but a threat. So he plans to kill her after a fancy party.
Meanwhile, at the Hall of Justice...or a fancy hotel (I always get those confused) Helena receives a letter from Tony that says they are destined to be together in Gotham. She also receives an invitation to a fancy party thrown by Mr. Mandragora. Could this be a set up? Well, yes, but I already told you that last paragraph. But if you answered yes, call your mom and demand a cookie. You deserve it. Anyway, lastly, she receives a note and dashes away to a church. A great deal of the story has happened in a church. Who was the note from? None other than her "brother," Sal, who is now a priest named Pino. He tells her that he was in love with a nun who helped him escape prison, then felt guilty and left him. So he now loves God as he loved her. He also tells her that Mandragora put out the hit on her.
In the last few pages, Helena goes to the dress designer and demands he make her an outfit a little more suited to her lifestyle. The Huntress is born! And she is after the blood of Mandragora.
Now for the nit-picking. In the beginning of the book, she says she won't hit a priest, then she knocks him out and breaks his arm in a door. Does that make sense? And she also says she took 3 billion Euros from the guys in the basement, yet she left with only the girl. Hmm. Did I miss something? If I did, please correct me in the comments.
Overall, I liked the story and the story-telling. The art was clean, but nothing really stood out at me, good or bad. A first time comic writer writing a great story gives me hope that maybe my little writing ability isn't as crappy as I think it is.

Nice first review! Welcome back to comics.
And yeah, I’m a bit confused by the plot in this (3 billion euros would have to take up some ROOM, right?) Still, I’m having fun with this.
yeah, nice review. i liked this issue the best of the three so far. i THINK that when she took all the keys off the girl’s necklace, they were to safe deposit boxes with the money…i think.
Oh….I see it now. That makes sense now.
Welcome to the world of collecting comics YoSoyJu, it’s kinda like being addicted to crack, but without all the horrible side-effects & gang violence …
I’m glad I wasn’t the only confused by the "I’d never hit a priest" comment when she hits him on the next page. Maybe she was being sarcastic? I also shared your confusion about the money (thanks to TehDave for clearing that up!) … I didn’t even notice that the necklace was all keys until I looked back at it … I’m super observant, lol.
