Marvel really knows how to do a space series. The second issue of Guardians of the Galaxy continues this trend, and exceeds the standards set by the previous issue. The team is great and I love how they interact with one another. The use of debriefing interviews as framing devices is excellent, and often gives humorous insight on different scenes in the issue. the big reveal here is great, and a treat for fans of the previous Guardians. While I was not one of those Wikipedia brought me up to speed. The new character had a great entrance, and I hope he joins the team permanently. His predicament reminds me a bit of Bishop's when he first came to the X-Men.
The art is amazing. I loved Pellettier on Nova, and he continues to knock it out of the park here. I'm beginning to think of him as this eras cosmic artist. His characters and backgrounds are amazing. The market scene is packed full of all kinds of alien species that show what a diverse place space is.
All around this was a great issue, and continues the excellent start of this new series. If D&A continue like this the book will become one of the best cosmic series ever.
