this book is gradually losing my interest, mainly because it seems like the sense of urgency has really been taken away from it.
the book started out hot - green arrow dead! green arrow alive! green arrow needing rescue! a different green arrow shot! but adding up these events does not a good story make if none of them ever get resolved. ollie was replaced so long ago by amazons, but not really - it was granny goodness. i still don't really know why. and does this connect to connor's attack? it seems like no, since the league of assassins is behind it. why? honestly, i'm beginning to not really care, this has gone on so long. the wow factor of all these final page reveals has dissolved into confusion - if ra's was out of nowhere last issue, plas is even more from left field. sometimes something meant to be shocking is more confusing.
the british character is really, really, really annoying. i'm not sure if he's purposely written to sound like a silly imitation or not, but it seems to stand out as awkward. the sooner he's gone, the better.
mike norton continues to beĀ not cliff chiang (whose cover was pretty sweet). i wish i had the vocabulary to say what's missing; i feel like norton is a bit more cartoony, and a bit less dramatically simple than chiang - chiang's thick lines and uniquely flat characters stood out in a much more interesting way than norton's do. norton's work is fine, though not great, and it suffers in comparison with what chiang had done.
i'm curious how this will end, and will keep buying - but i hope it ends sooner, rather than later.
