So this is the issue that was make or break for me.

I am a huge fan of
good Milligan. I’ve taken my online alias from, what I consider to be,
his seminal work, Shade the Changing Man. I pick up anything he puts
his name on for a few issues at least just to get the flavor of it.

The
first issue of this was bland, but I didn’t think it was bad. It could have been better, but the ending where Oedipus cuts off his junk instead of gouging out his eyes made me think there was going to be interesting twists on the old mythology. However…

The
problem I have with this series is that it isn’t bad and it isn’t good.
It’s just bland. Updating the old Greek mythology has the potential to
be something unique and riveting.

Instead we get stuff that just sits
there like a slab of butter on the kitchen table. It just sits there
doing nothing interesting. I know we’re only 2 issues in, but, already, it just seems so lazy.

The art seems like a weak version of Risso’s
work over on 100 Bullets. I could keep picking this series up in hopes
that something happens, but it just seems like it’s a concept with no
follow through.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
