I dropped this title quite a while ago.  It was probably around issue # eight or # nine when I came to the realization that Streets Of Gotham would be the only necessary Batman title from then on in.  From what I came to learn from user reviews here and reviews on IGN, is that I had made no mistake in dropping it when I had.  After all, who could look at those clunky looking interiors without falling over from extreme motion sickness?  There was no way that is was worth having the spins all night just to read some goofy spinoff junk Paul Dini probably threw together real quick on his way to the office running late one morning.

Sometime past and I realized that there was a different creative team on Sirens now.  I never found out if they were temporary or there permanently, which probably won’t be too long regardless, and I neither found or nor do I give a shit either.  This title is worse now then it was when I dropped it eight issues ago!!

The only reason I though the purchase would warrant the taking away of my 12 quarter (plus tax so 13 quarters) was because the solicit said something about tying in with the whole Return Of Bruce Wayne/BW: The Road Home type thing.  It didn’t.  Not at all. The solicit was a complete lie.  I can’t seem to understand how DC never gets in trouble for false advertising, they do it a lot with their Paul Dini stuff!!

The art style was kinda different.  I thought it was neat when I first started reading the thing, but once I got a look at the characters, my mind changed rather rapidly, I must confess.  Selina Kyle looks like a 13 year old boy!!!  If the other Sirens weren’t in uniform, I wouldn’t have ever been able to recognize them!!  The only way I knew who Poison Ivy was is because her skin was green!!  Christ, at least they got the colors right!!

What a fucking waste of three bucks!!  It was a pretty slow weak though (yes again).  I had to take some type of risk or I wouldn’t have shit to read but ACTION and ASM.

To make a long story short, if this is the same creative team that is doing the Siren’s BW The Road Home tie in next month, then that’s one The Road Home tie in I can immediately cross off the list.  YUCK

  1. I dropped this two issues ago but liked it up until I realized that Dini probably wasn’t going to come back and the issues I was reading while he was gone were average.

I keep checking the solicit to see if he is coming back. Based on your review, I’m glad I’m not currently buying.

  2. When this first came out, the strength of it was the dynamic and interactions betweent the three main characters, how they played off of and responded to each other, which I think Dini did a job in portraying, especially in his being able to voice each of them distinctively….but since he left all that has been lost, and the art, yea, the art has been half-ass in almost all issues since March left.

Was interested in this issue because of the guest appearances of Zatanna and Talia, and maybe also what seemed to be a backstory involving Selina and Bruce’s relationship, but the concepts in this issue were pretty weak, including the little confict Zatanna had with Ivy, and the premise being the age-old cliche of someone trying to discover the secret identity of Bruce Wayne, boring.

  3. I don’t think the art was EVER good.  I hate the way Gulliem March draws.  It’s my least favorite style.
