I liked this issue a lot more than the first one. Barry didn’t seem
grating as much and he wasn’t written as the Messiah come down to
heaven. He actually felt like a real character for the first time I can
remember. I am now certain that we’ll be getting Max Mercury before the
end of this series and he’ll probably be the official new Black Flash.
I liked the explanation of the cornball bowtie and I really liked
seeing Sam Scudder again. Don’t get me wrong the newer Mirror Master
has been doing a fine job, but since this book seems intent on bringing
back the history of the Barry, it only makes sense. I don’t understand
why Gorrilla City has any sort of insight into the workings of the
speed force, but this issue did a lot to dissuade my fears from the
initial issue.
