This issue just goes to show that, even when he's doing filler, Giffen excels. Clark and Richards' artwork is really starting to grow on me as well and I now immediately think of their designs when I picture the Doom Patrol.

As a long-term fan of the DP, I was thrilled to see several old characters return (however brief) and although plotwise this was a little thin, it definitely hooks your attention and makes you wanna keep reading (from someone who usually just waits for trades, this is really saying something) with lots of brilliant ideas and reveals, such as Oberon's moving service and Thayer Jost's mysterious scheme.

Giffen's characterisation and dialogue also more than make up for the lack of plot, evidenced spectacularly in the only scene actually featuring the main characters.

As for the Metal Men back-up; I've found this to be fun, exciting and hilarious but at the same time instantly forgettable. I can only hope they get their own ongoing.
