Before I start, I did not buy this book for the yellow ring, unlike so many others. No I bought this books because it's it good.

The Doom Patrol, a team of misfits who are over looks not only in the comic book world, but in the real world as well. This comic has been canceled and relaunched so many times, it's maddening. Now granted the only other Doom Patrol comic I've read in the past, was the amazing Grant Morrison run; and I here many of the other relaunches were terrible.
However Giffen current run is different. It may not be as crazy as Morrison, which might be a good thing, so it doesn't scare away new readers.

But enough of my fandom, let us return to this comic.

This issue features a tie in to DC Blackest Night Event, and much like other comics, old friend and enemies return from the grave. So you know the drill already.
However, unlike the other DC comics, the DP never really new the teams that came after them, save for maybe Robotman.
The issue starts off with the team returning from fighting a sentient Black Hole, and Rita storming off after her Ex-Husband, Mento, took control of her body.
In her fit of rage, she is confronted by the undead Joshua Clay, aka: Tempest (now with weather based powers).
The Chef, hidden away in his lab, he is attacked by his deceased wife Celsius. Oddly enough, even when faced with his possible death, all he can feel is his own greed.
The issue ends with with Robotman and Negative man, ambushed by Valentina Vostok aka: Negative Woman (who apparently died in Final Crisis) and a even grater twist, Robotmans former body.
The reveal of Robotman's body coming back brought up many questions for me. Such as, was Giffen using the plot point in Morrison's run? I'm talking about, where Robotman's brain was destroyed by The Candlemaker, thus making Robotman to use a AI of his former brain. Or is the body of Robotman only returning because it lakes life all together.
With the dead coming back, I only wonder if The Brain and Monsieur Mallah will return in the next issue, seeing as they die in Salvation Run.

Needless to say I found it a great issue, and hope those who bought it only for the ring will return for more.
