This is a quick read, even for something that’s only twenty pages long, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s a pretty simple in some ways, just another man vs. giant killer larvae thing, but Ottley is ridiculously inventive, and there isn’t much in this story that isn’t unique, surprising and awesome. But that’s kind of what you would expect from a comic called “Death Grub.”

Ottley did the book in only 24 hours, so, understandably, the art is a
little rough, but it looks good. Cliff Rathburn probably helped a lot
by coming in for the gray tones.

There’s no dialogue, and very few words, so as I was reading it, this song that I had heard recently kept creeping in. “Strange Times” by the Black Keys. I guess my brain just decided that since no one was talking, this needed a rockin soundtrack. Which is what it deserves.

So, you know, get yourself a copy of this book, insert your own tunes, enjoy yourself.

Story: 5 - Excellent
