I don’t often use the term quirky, but I think that the perfect term
for this book.

Chris Bachelo is incredibly stylized but he does a
freaking astonishing regular spiderman. His work is perfect for the
intricate webbing design.

Here, he just does a great weird monster in
the form of Venom.

As for the story, Reed seems to be trying too hard
to be Joe Kelly here, making his writing style fit the art he’s
getting. The Redeemer seems like too much of a caricature to be taken seriously.

The stuff with Gargan screwing with Jameson would have been
enough to fill out the series and has a huge history, it just seems
like Reed is padding the book too much.

It was good, but it feels like
it’s got too much just to give the writer some outs because he lacks faith in being able to pull it off.
