COUNTDOWN TO ADVENTURE #8 (OF 8)

Well the fantastic ride is over.  We see both stories come to a conclusion, one that I knew was coming and the other was pleasantly surprised to see.  Even though this book was 3.99 it’s one of the few times that I did not mind in the least spending that much on a book.  Beechen did a wonderful job handling this team and I really hope that he brings them back together.  Which may happen in this holy war book, we’ll see.

This book really has me actually thinking of going back and buying a Morrison run of a comic.  If anyone has payed any attention to my posts or reviews, you will know I dislike the man’s writing.  This run and 52 really make me want to look up his Animal Man.  I can only hope that it’s as good as Beechen’s

Oddly enough I really want to read more on Forerunner.  My suspicions are that with how this book ended we most likely will never see her again.  I was also hoping that the two stories would come together at the end, but alas they did not.

The art in the Forerunner story was great, I enjoyed it the entire way and it was great in this final issue.  Sadly this issue I felt was lacking for the other story.  Animal Man looked weird in several panels and so did Starfire.

Lastly if you weren’t reading this book, I think you should have.  Wait for it to come out in trades, I’m sure they’ll do one for each story.  I would highly recommend both, they were full of action and were just plain fun to read.  Sadly which doesn’t seem to happen a lot anymore in comics in general, at least in my opinion.

Story: 5 - Excellent
Art: 4 - Very Good
