I wasn’t expecting to pick this one up, but with fond memories of Mark Gruenwald and Kieron Dwyer’s run with Crossbones in the early 1990s, I couldn’t say no. I enjoyed the Declan Shalvey art, and Crossbones lined up somewhat with what I remember, but I was reserved in my enthusiasm for comics newcomer William Harms’s story wherein Crossbones develops sympathy/a conscience. The action was rendered nicely, and there was a whole lot of killing, but the Crossbones I remember doesn’t have a soft spot for anyone.

Story: 2 - Average
Art: 3 - Good
