Gail Simone’s run on Batgirl has been hit or miss. This issue wraps up a two-issue story focusing more on the events of Barbara’s shooting at the hands of the Joker than the villain of the moment- Grotesque. The return of Barbara’s mother has been a little too drawn out for my taste but there is finally a little resolution here with everyone finally getting everything out into the open. The final page reveal was really great. Looking back there was a lot of foreshadowing but, for me, it came out of nowhere. The art is serviceable but Barbara and her mom look WAY too similar. Almost confusing at times. I think this title is on an upswing and I want to see where Simone takes it.
