I really thought that this was finally an issue of Batgirl that could sit down and enjoy, this was finally the issue where I would find out how Batgirl gained the ability to walk again. But sadly, once again I am disappointed. This is just not good at all. Here we get another villain to add to the list of all the enemies Batgirl has to fight. And again we have Batgirl feeling sorry for herself because she can walk again. Oh cry me a river Barbara, and grow a pair! I’m sick of tired of not knowing what happened to her and why she constantly feels like she’s not good enough. However I did like when Black Canary yells at Barbara saying that when Barbara was in the wheelchair she never once complained. Exactly! That’s the Barbara I want, that’s the Barbara this story needs, when is she going to make an appearance? Hopefully she arrives soon, because I want to kick this comic in the balls for being horrible.

Story: 2 - Average

  1. I like to give the plot some time to develop. This is far from horrible. Gail Simone is a top ten talent at DC. My suggestion to you.. if its horrible why are you still reading it at issue 7.. maybe cause its not horrible.

  2. i read Batgirl 7 and while i do wish Barbara would get it together, I agree with iroberts007. The story takes time to reach that point. I think after the talk with Black Canary, Barbara is fine now. She needs some cool weapons though. I see that the costume is deemed high tech so let us see some things.

  3. I just finished reading this issue a few moments ago and understand your frustration about how she is able to walk again, I think they did a very hasty overview on that in issue #1. I am enjoying Batgirl, though I am still a Steph fan.

I believe we may be getting to more backstory on how she was able to walk again coming up in the next few issues, as we can see from the last page of this issue, the story coming up will be dealing with her emotions on becoming paralyzed, or at least that is what it appears to me from the last page of this issue.

  4. I don’t understand the “give it more time” rationale. It’s been seven issues.

If the story wouldn’t constantly feature Barbara obsessing over being able to walk again, then the withheld explanation wouldn’t matter. They should have just ignored it for a while and maybe waited a couple years before doing a special issue explaining it all. Instead we get baited with it every issue, and because we don’t understand what happened it makes the reader unable to empathize with Barbara when she’s crying out for understanding. It’s all very poorly thought out.

Gail has done very good work in the past, but this Batgirl run is a far cry from her Sinister Six stuff.

  5. I dropped it.

Hopefully some explication is forthcoming, but I really lost interest.
