Out of all of the Avengers books that were ending this month, this was my favorite conclusion. New Avengers felt like the end of a storyline, not the end of a book. Mighty Avengers felt like a rushed ending, with a storyline that got interrupted. Dark Avengers felt like a book that had already ended and they were just clearing up details, but Initative? This felt like a good solid ending. While there are a few rushed parts (the last page being essentially an epilogue for the characters who weren’t a part of the final storyline), the fact that Gage gets as much as he does in a regular sized issue is extraordinary. In many ways Initative has served as anthology book for many b-level or lower characters of the Marvel Universe and almost all of the reoccuring characters get some attention. Some parts like Komodo and Hardball are happy, some like Diamondback and Constrictor less so. And what Tigra does to the Hood is worse than I would have expected. But it’s been a fun ride and Gage sends us out on good note. Goodbye Iniative, and I look forward to Avengers Academy.

Story: 4 - Very Good

  1. So long to a solid book.  Scarlett Spiders, MVP, SPIN Tech, and all the supporting cast.
