Now this is what an event should be like! Secret Invasion, Siege, and Second Coming weren't really stories that NEEDED to be told (and were stories told poorly as well as gimmicky at that). However, especially after Avenger's Disassembled and House of M, we are finally getting to deal with the Scarlett Witch. The entire Marvel Universe has a stake in this, making this a truly compelling story. Sure, it's only the second issue and there is still a lot of set up going on, but I am hooked. Heinberg's writing is lively and engaging. Each character actually sounds like themselves. Hearing Wolverine talk about slaughtering the Scarlett Witch is totally something I'd expect to hear from him in this situation (I mean she decimated the mutant population and he is the best at what he does). Heinberg does a great job of grounding the issue with the "family crisis" that the Magneto clan represents. It keeps the story relate-able for the audience, while still remaining essentially a superhero story. The reveal at the end was rather unexpected, but I am curious to see it play out. (It's actually kind of reminiscent of BKV's second Runaways volume...or at least it was for me)

There are no words to describe how magnificent the art is. Cheung should definitely have an ongoing.

Overall, if you've ever enjoyed Young Avengers, were upset with how House of M was never truly resolved, or just pissed with the current state of the X-Universe, I'd recommend adding this series to the buy pile.
