In the last two weeks I’ve been on two different continents and in three different time zones spanning eight hours. My body is pretty beat and I have to constantly ask people to identify the day of the week. When I finally came back home, I had three weeks worth of comic books to buy which came in at just under a hundred bucks and it is a very daunting pile that just sits around my apartment mocking me. I’ve only made a small dent in it because I also had three weeks worth of television on my DVR to catch up on (If this were a television Pick of the Week I’d be screaming from the rooftops about Veronica Mars), which is a scary proposition. But dent I did make, managing to read this week’s crop of books and even through my jet-lagged fueled, diminished brain capacity I have managed to identify this week’s best book and it is…

Say it with me…

Gotham Central!

Shocker, huh? It’s getting rather old to talk about how good this book is, especially since every chapter of this particular storyline has made Pick of the Week status. Not only have I completely run out of good things to say about this book, I’ve run out of ways to say that it’s getting old to talk about how good this book is in general, and this storyline is in particular.

Someone is dressing up young men in Robin costumes and killing them and they thought it was Batman then they thought it was a reporter than in this issue it’s all resolved and the writing and art is excellent and yadda yadda yadda.

So is it a commentary on the quality of this particular book or the pedestrian nature of 90% of everything else out there right now that Gotham Central is so obviously head and shoulders above the pack?

Now there’s a scary question.

I’m off to take a nap. What day is it, again?
