I don’t think I will be seeing 300 this weekend, because I saw it LAST NIGHT!!! It was very good. An excellent adaptation. If you saw Ghost Rider then you owe it to yourself to see 300. Maybe, if you saw Ghost Rider, go see 300 twice.

I will be going thursday night to see 300.
I (had) a pull list, but: unlike what I was told last week they don’t “do” pull lists, and everthing I reserved last week (due in Japan on Sat. when I work) was sold out (Robin #159, Spirit #3, Daredevil, others). I was going to add titles to my list. I bought one floppy and walked out. This was after getting drenched in a rain storm and the trains breaking down. They gave me major ‘tude since the day I walked in, even after I spent over $50.00 each of the 3 or 4 times over the past three weeks. Now I have no shop. So now I must ask Boris, my friend who gives me stuff from the back of the truck he drives for Hydra.
The trades I ordered a little over a week ago finally arrived in the mail yesterday from Amazon:

Oh well.
I’ll probably see 300 when it comes out in Japan…maybe 3-6 months from now. The distributors here are idiots. They think bittorents are terrible things. Well put. I got the money, now where’s my merch? I thought people who sold comics were supposed to care about selling comics to make a profit. My mistake. Never mind.

I think a Brubaker PoW is in order. A new post-civil war Cap storyline AND the end to the first arc of Criminal? One of those has to be the winner. Right?
And, no, I won’t see 300 in the theaters. I don’t truck with movies in the theater any more. I saw, like 10 total movies last year. I’ll watch it on DVD if the iFanboy nation says its worth it.
One movie I did see: Children of Men. Awesome. Alfonso Cuaron is the next great director. I saw that movie only b/c he directed it. The plot synopsis sounded awful to me, but it turns out, in his hands, it’s fantastic.

300 isn’t out in Belgium for a few weeks. The Fountain is out next week though and I can’t wait for that!
WARNINGS: The Initiative spoils Cap, according to a review on Another Site. And it is not the beginning of the new series, it is one of those “appetizer plates” of teases to launch other series. From what I’ve read, it sounds as if it’ll be safest to read Cap before anything else this week, if you’re spoiler-phobic.
Oh, how sweet: I contacted a guy that runs a Japanese fan site on American Comics I found yesterday, and he sent me a list within 24 hours with a bunch of stores in Tokyo and a couple of online buying places. He said his info is out of date by several years, so I have to check more myself in case some have gone out of business, but he was great to help a fanboy out. Faith in humanity: restored. Again the fans pull through where the industry fails…wonderful.

In fairness, though I did call it in September, I also predicted that it would happen in September. I’d love to blame it on the lateness, but I don’t think I can.
I haven’t read the spoilers myself, but after seeing the uproar in the comic community, it’s a pretty easy guess as to what happens.
