DON’T MISS: Uncanny X-Men #535 with Kieron Gillen

Show Notes

Running Time: 22:12

Coming hot off the heels of the pick of the week of Uncanny X-Men #534.1, we catch up with new ongoing series writer Kieron Gillen to hear what he's got in store for the first issue of the new arc in Uncanny X-Men #535.  Gillen tells us his approach not only for this arc, but for the entire series and what fans can expect as Uncanny X-Men moves forward into the Year of the X-Men. Plus, you can hear how Gillen shamelessly worked in his own characters from his previous series S.W.O.R.D., with no regret whatsoever.  It's a new dawn for Uncanny X-Men and you definitely don't want to miss it!

  1. Great interview! Looking forward to checking this out now.

  2. Glad that he’s focusing on the Kitty plot point straight away. Like Ron said, nothing’s really been done with it since the immediate beginning or end of Second Coming.

  3. sounds like a nice guy, didnt know he was a Brit

  4. I’ve said this before to me the X-men lost their way when they stopped being a group book.

That was their strength – interpedendecy the training the guidance with a strong central character- Prof X.

Now things have changed and I am very happy with the evolution of Cycolps- it made sense for lots of reasons not the least of which the mergeing with apocalypse would have had a profound influence at least.

But now we have one general commanding lots of individuals- but the team concept is gone.

Core members want nothing to do with the new X-men-the classic bonding the family sense of duty and loyalty it’s just not there.

It just seems that there has been so much deconstructing with this group- and at some point the roll just keeps going with ought rememebering to build the characters back up.

Asteroid X is probably the most developed “character” outside of Cyclops right now- and to me
    that’s neglectful.

Hopefully Gillen can bring that sense of core and purpose back – the heart of the X-men

    As  a Team.

Think about it- one of the biggest reasons X-force is so great?
Murderous and bloody as it may be – They are a team.
