  1. will probably wait for the had cover on this.  Skotties art look amazing.

  2. Same here. The art looks amazing but 8 issues at 4 bucks a pop is just too much.

If you enjoy Skottie’s work and/or podcasts in general, check out his podcast called "The Devil and Me" that he does with his girlfriend. It’s very funny and entertaining. I can’t recommend it enough.

  3. i have been waiting forever for this to come out

  4. might not get this but the art looks immaculate so I will be at least flipping through it

  5. I’m very excited for this, but I’ll wait for the hardcover so I can hand it out to people. I’ll certainly flip through it in the store, though.

  6. The art does look absolutely beautiful. Definitely picking this up.

  7. They are doing the whole series!!! i am sooo excited i want the hardcover too but i dont know if can wait that long oh the agony!!!!

  8. Avatar photo PymSlap (@alaska_nebraska) says:

All the kids will eat it up, if it’s packaged properly.

  9. @PymSlap- I agree all 10 of the kids who read comics will eat this series up.

  10. ha, skottie young’s art is so totally suited for this story cannot wait to read this one.

  11. Scottie Young’s art has grown leaps and bounds since his human torch days. i remember hating his art on that book but this is just great.

  12. His new X Men Stuff Was Real Good Too

  13. I think Skottie Young is an incredible artist who is pushing the boundaries of what comic art can look like. I admire him so much for that. I SO want this in a collected volume but I’m buying the issues because I can’t wait.

  14. @AlexG – Same here. I’m so impatient. Funny thing, that nobody seems to care who’s writing this, me included. Usually I’m a writer-guy, but the art…best I’ve seen so far from Mr. Young. Oh, Devil&Me is the only podcast I can’t wait to get every week. Okay, enough rambling, more walking to the store…

  15. @Cyclonpete–good point about the lack of concern for the writing. I think that’s partially due to Youngs art and partially due to it being a well known story. This book really is about seeing Skottie Young interpret those characters. It’s sitting in my bag right now, but I don’t want to open it just yet….

  16. I picked it up and the writing is average.  It reads like an illustrated classics story.  But the art is amazing.  Definitely worth the price of admission.

  17. Well, the writing was servicable, but the art…blew me away! I stared at every one of those pages for literally minutes. Loved the art, best thing I saw (not read) this week. And it was a art-heavy week too, with Maleev on Dark Reign, Echo and Phonogram out…

  18. Well the writing is mostly directly from Baum, it was only touched up a little. I wouldn’t really call a classic "average" its just different than what we expect in comics. It was a different time

  19. So far a pretty cool adaption of the book.  I just read the novel this past year and I’m glad I did because it was all still fresh in my mind as I read this comic.  Skottie Young’s pencils are so cool in this.  When I first saw the advertisement, I wasn’t sure about it but when I picked it up off the stands I knew I had to get it.  If you are a fan of the novel, this comic looks like it’ll deliver a faithful adaption while giving you some gorgeous stylized art to look at.  I think I’m going to get the whole series.

  20. Fucking awesome book. PotW for sure.

  21. I almost passed this up.  I’m so glad I didn’t.  I’m definitely adding this to my pull list.  5 stars easy
