  1. Gosh, this looks amazing.

  2. really, really excited for this

  3. Can’t wait for this one!

  4. Could this be the best Brubaker/Philips yet?

  5. So, so delicious.

  6. My god, this is so so hyped!

  7. I might…

  8. Really want to check this out in the shop.  This team always gets praise, so I’m sure it will be worth reading

  9. hmmm interesting but 3.50?

  10. better than $3.99

  11. 3.50 is tolerable.

  12. Isn’t Criminal 3.50 and worth the money?

Since Criminal is going on hiatus, why not fill in the hole with this?

    That’s what I’m doing.

  13. I think I’ll wait for the trade.

  14. I’ll also add that I would gladly pay 3.50 or even 3.99 for a creator owned book.  Aside from usually getting a really good story, more money goes straight to the creative team (usually) so I can sleep better at night

  15. Happy to have waited for the trade on Criminal, happy to do the same with this.

  16. I’m picking this up in issues; Brubaker said he and Phillips were including extras that will be issues-only to encourage reading the monthly format. I believe at least part of the extras were illustrations by Phillips and essays on Brubaker’s favorite pulp-heroes of the 30s and 40s. This first issues (I think) is featuring The Shadow.

  17. Really nice typeface!

  18. This is the book I am most excited for this week.  God, Brubaker has really hit his stide.

  19. @Ottobot – It’s the same thing he does with CRIMINAL, he puts in a lot of back matter.  I probably won’t read it here either.

  20. My love for  Ed Bruballips is endless.

  21. @conor – Ahhh, I didn’t know (I read Criminal in trades). Hmm…I might have to pick that up the monthly when Ingonito finishes up then. I’ll probably just skim the essays, but I dig most ancillary material, whether it’s read or not.

  22. What the?! Okay, add another one to my list this week.

  23. Ooh, Brubaker… tempted! Damn it all though as I’ve already got twelve books on my pull this week.

  24. Will buy the trade, as I think it’ll be a more satisfying read.  I’ll sort of miss the backup material though.

  25. Come on guys, don’t complain about the 3.50 price when it’ll probably be one of the best  superhero(villain) books that comes out this year. and a fair bet to say one of the best things either Marvel or DC will publish this year. 🙂

  26. Well it’s 3.50 because there’s no ads. So yeah, I’m buying.

  27. I somehow missed all the hype about this book. Was there much? Just pulled it because it looks interesting.

  28. @blulew23-Not too much hype.  I remember seeing a preview a few months back.  Other than that, nothing.  Just the fact that its Bru and Phillips on a new project that has peeps giddy

  29. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  $3.50 ?!?!?!  (Sarcasm)

I’m not really all that familiar with Marvel Zombies, or Captain American for that matter, but this does look like comic book purity in it’s own unique little way.  Besides, I’m not pulling anything else except for Superman and Batman so why not?

  30. Really looking forward to this, but like most books in this vein, and like I did with Criminal, I will be waiting (with baited breath, mind you) for the trade. These stories always read better that way for me, and this way I can keep it on my bookshelf, not stashed away with my floppies 🙂

  31. Want to wait for trade…but damn I want to read this.

  32. Does anybody know if this is a mini series or an ongoing?

  33. 6 issue mini-series.

  34. I wanted to get this, but my shitty LCS was already sold out.  Now, I am seriously considering changing stores.

  35. Meh, it was a pretty good story.  It just didn’t really hook me all that much.  I don’t think I’ll be picking up the rest

  36. Yup, I rated it a 2.

Sleeper and Criminal are amazing. This issue not so much.

  37. Gave it a 3; pretty good, but best used as toilet paper when compared to Criminal. I did enjoy the comic, but I as expecting to be amazed.

  38. This was not great.  I was dissappointed.

  39. was left a little underwhelmed to be sure..I think though that the idea of what I thought this was gonna be about didn’t match what it really is about..maybe a second read will be better.

  40. Wow. Incredibly mediocre. Not even sure I’ll continue with this.

  41. Pretty good! No ads either! But it gets an extra star for the typeface. Anyone else notice the "different in Canada" under $3.50? I loled. First time I see that.

  42. *sigh*

My comic store guy’s helper didn’t put this on my list when I asked, and I left the store without it.  Should be getting it next week.

  43. I was utterly floored by this book.  Can’t wait for more.

  44. For a setup issue, this was really good.  Looks beautiful!

  45. THIS WAS SSSSSOOOOOOO GOOOOOOD!!!!! I can’t wait for the next issue.

  46. Great book. Almost my PotW, until I read Proof of course.

  47. I am really disappointed that this is going to just a mini, I thought this idea had room for growth into a monthly read.

  48. Finally read it…

    AWESOME.

    My Pick of the Week.

  49. It’s nice to read a book that you have no idea what it’s about, which I did for this book.  I ignored everything about it just knew the title and loved the reveal that he has powers, really looking forward to the rest of the series.

  50. So the only reason this isn’t a Criminal book is the superhero element. Thankfully, and thematically, it fits right into Brubaker and Phillip’s style from that series. I was worried about missing Criminal.  Now, I’m cool.

Thanks, guys, for a good start.
