  1. I was just thinking about how I’d like to get this.

  2. Already have this, but I thought I’d chime in to talk about how 90% of the Daredevil arcs of the past 20 years have just been elongated reworkings of this story. Overall, I’d have to say that Bendis’s entire run > these several issues known as "Born Again", but when it comes to economy and influence, this story packs a punch and ranks real high. So many storyarcs descend from this story arc, whether we realize it or not. Even something like Batman R.I.P.–or any "Let’s BREAK the hero!" story–seems like an imitation of what Miller did here.

  3. I already own this, but it’s 20 years old and old and ragged. Time to replace it, like I did with Dark Phoenix Saga.

This is a definitive Daredevil story and one of the top 5 trades a comic reader should own.

  4. I would like to get a hold of the hardcover. I wish they had it in print.

  5. I found the HC with ease.  I liked it, but thought it got a bit wonky near the end (when Nuke and Cap show up).  That stuff didn’t seem to fit the tone of the rest of the book.

  6. @flapjaxx Good comment and I agree with all points except I prefer Born Again to Bendis’ run for some of the reasons you state.  I first read this as a monthly reader and it was a truly one of a kind experience.  The way Miller brings you back into the story at the beginning of each issue without a recap page.. that might seem like overkill in the trade, but that was one thing he did on those DD issues that really worked when you read his stuff monthly.

I keep having the same thoughts reading Fraction’s run on Invincible Iron Man.  It’s good, and I enjoy it, because it’s the "Born Again" for Iron Man.  The recent ASM "Kraven’s First Hunt" was a lot like a "Born Again" for Spider-Man.  Batman R.I.P. is another good example.. I have definitely read this story over and over again.. but this is the real thing.  Nobody did it like Miller & Mazzuchelli.

Panel to panel.. the cinematic feel of this is unbelieveable.. like a great action thriller that completely toes the feel of a big Hollywood movie WITHOUT making the common misstep of going way beyond "over the top".  **SPOILERS** Say what you will about modern comics being better and better but.. in #232 take the last few panels when Cap, Thor, & Iron Man show up and then you finally see DD in costume again before the flames.. and that is just one example.

Crotchety old man alert.. but: They don’t make ’em like that anymore.  There’s a reason why this is held in such high regard.

  7. Get THIS! And get this exact one with this cover. I have it and it’s beautiful. All of the original art is there in beautiful color that hasn’t been retouched, but has been printed in a much higher quality manner on much better thick white paper than the 1980s newsprint. I own the original issues and compared them side by side. The only difference is the originals have faded looking colors, but this one has solid colors that look really professional. They remain matte in appearance rather than being shiny like alot of later comics, so you’ll totally get that old school feel. All of the original covers are there with logos and price tags and what not.. In the back the covers are all printed logo free, and then there’s a ton of page sketches and a typed script from one of the issues. II’m really happy with this collection and love to show it off.
