    Wow, what a great retro week: first I see my beloved PHANTOM ZONE miniseries by Steve Gerber getting the sweet tpb treatment – and now Gaiman’s & McKean’s BLACK ORCHID, which kicked so much late 80s ass that I’m almost misty-eyed just thinking about it. The story and artwork were magnificent, I still think about this tale all these years later. Just awesome stuff.

    Really wish they would collect her 70s stories. The Black Orchid character was kinda ahead of its time — but also had a bit of a pulp hero feel. The 80s series was beautiful, but it didn’t really do much to revive the character — and I actually preferred the original concept over purple plant lady.
