First Look: ‘X-Men: The Last Stand’ Trailer

Fox aired the first full length trailer to X-Men: The Last Stand tonight during 24.

In case you missed it, you can check out the trailer here.

Some of it looked pretty good, I must admit, but I still don’t like how they are pushing Storm into the forefront of the team over Cyclops.

Even if he is the fun killer.

Comments

  1. They just aired the full xmen preview on fox.

    faaaaaaaaaaaaaantastic

  2. I was really nervous about this movie and viewing the intial teaser trailer didn’t do much to calm me… This did.

For anyone who has yet to see it.

hooray for this girl. hard candy looks like it will RULE

  4. As a life long X fan I blieve I can speak…for myself, when I say “Yiiiippiiieee!”

  5. I finally got a chance to watch.
    whew
I feel a lot better about this movie now, I can’t freaking wait! The trailer gave me goosebumps!

  6. I’m not sold. It looks good, sure.

But then, which trailer got the best reaction at the TRAILER PARK panel in San Diego in 2000? Rush Hour 2.

I just don’t like the things I hear about the story and I don’t like this Storm so much.

  7. stop living in the past…

I agree the Storm to the forfront is annoying, but keep in mind there was a good 80 issues of Uncanny where Cyke wasn’t on the team and Storm led…so storywise, it makes sense…

  8. But the past rocked!

  9. Wow…that was badass.

There is no doubt in my mind that we won’t be completely dissapointed with this movie (IE Hulk, Catwoman, Elektra). Everyone looks like they’ve been done well, the actors all play their parts, and this is actually based off of an actual X-men storyline, ‘Gifted’ from Astonishing, so their foundation is pretty solid.

Oh, and Cyclops is taking a backseat because he was simantaneously working on ‘Superman Returns’.

  10. Hulk is in my comic book movie top five.

  11. Hulk is in my comic book movie top five.
Honestly though…that’s not saying much. What do we have? X1, X2, Spider-Man 1/2, Hulk, Daredevil, Superman I, II, III, IV, Catwoman, Elektra, Nick Fury: Agent of SHIELD, Sin City, A History of Violence, ‘Trial of the Hulk’, the Captain America movie, Batman, Batman Forever, Batman and Robin, Batman Begins, Fantastic Four, Wonder Woman, Super Girl; There’s only a few ‘outstanding’ titles in that list. So, relatively speaking, it’s not surprising for the Hulk to be up there. But then again, it may just be personal preference…

  12. I’m with Connor.

    Not sold.

  13. My beef with the Storm thing is that it breaks down the ‘4th wall’ for me. It comes across as a plot move that is based upon the fact that Halle Berry has an Oscar and wanted a larger role and possibly also somewhat due to Marsden working with Singer on Superman Returns. So while I do agree that Storm has led the X-Men in the past, this move just screams of Hollywood and whining stars and egos. It may still be a good film, but when the actor’s off screen demands and behaviors impact the film it always pops into my head and grounds me in the reality of filmmaking.

Also, I like Cyclops (like Ron) and he’s one of my favorite X-Men even though he is sort of dull, honorable, and predictable. I guess I like that type of character, it explains why my favorite AD&D character back in the day was a do-gooder Paladin.

This is a large part of my problem. I have nothing against Storm the character, but I have lot of problems with Storm the Oscar Winning Actress.

  15. Good trailier. However I don’t feel as though they made the Phoenix character as powerful as they should have. I mean correct me if I am wrong, but when Jean was the Phoenix, she was practically God- Like in the comics. They should have focused a bit more on that in the storyline. Also, anyone notice that Wolverine has more of a Brooklyn-ish accent this time out?

This is probably one of the worst issues plauging media today. Everyone is so concerned about ‘oh, he/she is only in this role because of _____’. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, Storm needed to play a bigger role, and touch on her leadership portion of the comics? Remember, sure she won an oscar, but she’s starred in some god awful shit (Catwoman, anyone??). Come on guys, just because someone is taking a lead doesn’t mean it’s because they whined and bitched about it. Give it a chance. So what if Storm has a bigger part? Whoop-dee-damn-do. It’s not like it’s becoming ‘X3: Storm’s tempest’ or something. It’s just part of a bigger picture; of the original 3 core x-men from the movies (Storm, Cyclops, and Jean), two are incapacitated: Jean is Dark Pheonix, and Cyke is working with the Kryptonian (and story wise, is probably distraught over Jean). This means, that in order for someone to lead this new crew, they need someone who knows Prof. X’s intentions, and has been around to experience everything: Last case, Storm! If Cyke wasn’t working on Superman, i’d bet money that he would still be the leader.

  17. I love / hate knowing what’s going on behind the scenes

  18. I was glad to see Colossus all armored up. That was cool. I hope he has a bigger role in the movie than last time. I think the movie will be better than the first two. That scene of the Juggernaut chasing Shadow Cat was the bomb!

The spider man movies were very good in my book. They were the comic come to life for me. The Hulk was good too, but it had too many slow parts in it for me. The action that it did have was the best bar none. Personally I would like to see some cross over in the movies. Like the Hulk running into the FF or something. Maybe see spider man swing past in the back ground of the X-men movie.

  19. Could it be that maybe, just maybe, Storm needed to play a bigger role, and touch on her leadership portion of the comics?

It could be, but it’s not.

Come on guys, just because someone is taking a lead doesn’t mean it’s because they whined and bitched about it.

That’s true, but in this case it is.

  20. I can’t recall the exact quote or find it right now, but didn’t she have a quote when she took the role of Storm initially the effectively said something like “it shows the bad state that black actresses are in when I have to resort to taking roles like Storm in X-Men”. I do not profess that this is exactly what she said, but I recall reading something like it around 6 years ago. Anyone else remember it?

Not gonna happen. It’s not the fact that they don’t exist in the same universe, but different movie studios own different rights to the movies. Meaning, that company has a license over the MOVIES, meaning Marvel can’t have a say in who appears in the movie. This is the reason Ben Urich worked for ‘The Daily Post’ in Daredevil, rather then ‘The Daily Bugle’, and transitively Ben can’t appear in Spider-Man

    Well….. that just plain sucks…..

  23. hopefully they wont end the trilogy on a crap note.

  24. Not entirely related, but if you were a fan of the x-men cartoon, you should check out the alternate opening sequences animated for the Japanese broadcast…:

The best parts are the “artistic licenses” that the Japanese animators take with their powers… I don’t remember Prof. X being able to shoot psychic beams from his hands, but hey, who’s counting. And the death metal soundtracks rock my socks.
