Comments

  1. Can I get a Link!!

  2. what a great selection love the tom fowler and the yildiray its a shame when you see great art like this and we mostly get photo refrance from the big titles.

  3. Cinar’s New Gods looks amazing!

  4. It’s either Cinar’s Darkseid or Panosian’s Hex for me. All great stuff though. As usual.

That Fowler Superman is better than JMS’ entire run. Zing!

  5. Ryan Stegman you magnificent bastard!  that’s beautiful.

Also Tom Fowler’s Superman is why comics are great.

  6. Panosian’s Hex and Fowler’s Batman/Etrigan is awesome.

  7. Wow I cant choose which is my favorite. The New Gods are awesome, so is Kang ad Link. Etrigan…wow.  But, Tom Fowlers Superman…I would have kept reading the book if that was what it was like.

  8. I don’t even read Superman, but Fowler’s my favorite of the bunch.
I wonder why so many people love to do Jonah Hex sketches. . .?

  9. stegman and landridge on a Zelda Comic…that would sell

  10. Tom Fowler is a great piece….but where did i see that image before!?!?! I’m going to go nuts trying to place it.

  11. Hmm, Panosian’s Hex or Cinar’s aqua of Darkseid.. tied 🙂

  12. thanks josh and everyone else!

mr. greenmonster, so far as i know it’s an original image.  i’ve been wanting to it get down on paper (though not necessarilly with superman) since i started flying again for work about a decade ago.  i wouldn’t be the least bit surprised, though, to find that there are probably a dozen other similar images out there.  just none that i can summon to mind.

thanks again guys!  seeing my stuff in these sketch ups really does brighten my week.  (and this was a week that really needed some brightening…)

  13. oh god i need a legend of zelda comic now, amazing work by stegman!

  14. @HerrStarr  If you just want a Zelda comic, there actually is one out there. Sadly, it’s not by Ryan Stegman. It’s a manga. But yes, I’d love to see a Stegman take on it too.

  15. lovin the look of that Etrigan sketch

  16. Tom Fowler always amazes.

  17. That’s a great Tom Fowler, semi-slam at JMS Superman sketch.

Also, Gary Erskine reminds me a lot like a more ‘clean’ or tighter Jeff Lemire. Anyone else notice the similarity?

  18. That superman picture is the shit!!!!

  19. I <3 that superman sketch

  20. @tomfowler —no way was i implying that it wasn’t an original composition. Sorry if you took it that way. I was referring to the actual posted image. Its really great, and its always nice to see a superhero as secondary to an environment. Such a refreshing and private moment. Love it.

I’ve prob seen it on the good ol inter-webs posted somewhere else. =)

  21. OMG!!! That Link Sketch Is Perfection!!!!

  22. Once again, Eric Canete is great.

  23. Superman’s footprints on the clouds? AWESOME piece Mr. Fowler!

  24. no offence taken, wally-monster.  cultural id and all that.

it was originally posted to comictwart about a week ago, and has been making the rounds via twitter/tumblr ever since.

we’re still buds (especially if you keep posting that i’m “a great piece”)

cheers, and thanks again to everyone.

  25. @tomfowler  it was nice to see your pieces here.  I just read Mysterious the Unfathomable and thought it was wonderful!

  26. Tom Fowler should draw everything

  27. Canete is brilliant! why isn’t he on a monthly book?!

  28. Stegman’s Link touched me.
    ….
    NOT LIKE THAT!

Dizzy: I’ve always been a fan of Panosian’s work, ever since he did the teaser ad to X-men vs. Exiles in 1993.

Darkseid: I REALLY want to learn how to paint like Cinar.

Batman/Etrigan: Fowler’s taking a really DnD approach to this and I like it.
