User Reviews are Not Undecided

Joe the Plumber doesn’t endorse any of these reviews.  And we’re cool with that.

CaseyJustice starts the review of Thor #11 with “I don’t usually write these things, so bear with me…” which is totally unnecessary, because it’s a fine review.

One of the oldest tools to evoke realism in comics is to introduce “comics logic” into the real world, and have the characters react accordingly. Thor, I feel, is taking the opposite tact, by introducing “real world logic” to the Marvel Universe’s grand and fantastic landscape.

androidmoser takes us way back with his review of the reprint of Kill Your Boyfriend. Apparently, you should go get it now.

Story: 5 / Art: 5

Who should read this? Well, if you ask me, everyone — but I’m a bit of a Morrison apologist, so take that into consideration. Still, any fan of Morrison’s work, past or present, should definitely give this a go. Even if you’ve never read anything by Morrison, but are just in the mood for something unique that will smack you in the face and ask “what do you think of all this?!?” (in a Scottish brogue, no less!), then this is the book for you.

jachism shows us how new readers should be experiencing new material, and quite liked Hulk #7, and wants to know more. There might be better titles to start with, but I’ll let you make that discovery.

Story: 3 / Art: 5

I’ll admit that I am new to comics in general so I have no idea what a Hulk title is supposed to feel like. I expected action and there is plenty here to go around. I wanted Banner to Hulk out. Check. I wanted Red Hulk. Check. Did I really want Grey Hulk? Not really, but I ran with it and laughed.

Tork tells us about the new Joker hardcover, from Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo. Me, I couldn’t get past that creepy-ass cover. *shiver*

Story: 5 / Art: 5

It’s a tale that you could easily see under the banner of Brubaker’s Criminal or a Martin Scorsese film. If you like rough and dirty crime noir or are just curious to dig into a slightly off-kilter interpretation of the Clown Prince of Crime, this book just might be worth picking up.

Learn from these opinions, and form your own, and go out to the booths, er- the comic shop, and check out some great comics.  It’s the American thing to do!  Or if you’re not in America, it’s still the American thing to do, and all the cool countries are doing it.

  1. All great reviews and people should be picking up Thor. I know JMS has been a hit or miss writer for a bunch of years now. But this is seriously one of the best Marvel titles coming out right now. Better then Captain America, better then Daredevil, and better then any of the Ultimate titles. I hope more people pick it up in the future, even though the numbering is gonna change drastically in the next few months.

Oh and you know I smelled something with my copy of Joker HC….You know what it was? It smelled like Conor’s Book of the Month that’s what. (Smells kinda tangy actually)

  2. My review was noticed!  Woot!  Woot!

  3. Hey, thanks for the shout out!

Also, after all the word of mouth and now Tork’s review? I might have to give Azzarello another chance here…

  4. Wow….never thought I’d be noticed for a Hulk review..lol…sweet.

  5. i’m thinking of getting joker

  6. Joker was awesome

  7. stop thinking about getting joker and just get it.  seriously…  you’ll be very happy you did.
