Thursday Before NYCC?

Here's some stuff you could do before the big show Thursday Night, October 7. You can't do them all, but surely there's something for every kind of comic fan in the mean streets of New York City. Go forth. Enjoy.

What: Return of the Dapper Men Launch Party and Art Show

Jim McCann talked about this on his recent Talksplode episode, and you'll be able to get advanced copies of the book, as well well as see and purchase Janet K. Lee's original art from the highly anticipated Archaia release.  There could be both craziness, and insanity.  Look at the name of the place!  Check out more here.

Where: Alice's Tea Cup – 102 West 73rd St, NY, NY website

When: 7:00 to 10:00 PM

What: Darywn Cooke Signing

To promote the launch of his second volume of the Parker adaptation, The Outfit, Darwyn will be signing at Borders on Penn Plaza. He's about the best there is, and if this book is anything like the first, it's sure to be fantastic.  I'd get there early.  More information here.

Where: Borders – 2 Penn Plaza, NY, NY

When: 7:00 to 9:00 PM

What: CBLDF NYCC Welcome Party, Presented by Image Comics and The Beat

Celebrating their book, Liberty Annual 2010, and the kickoff of this year's NYCC, this is a charity event at the Village Pourhouse.  It's free for all to attend, but there's a suggested donation of $10 to benefit the good work done by the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.  With your donation, you'll get a bag of goodies from Image and CBLDF.  Pay $30 or $50 to the fun, and get an open bar wristband, as well as the thanks of a grateful comic book charity.  More information here.

Where: Village Pourhouse – 36 W. 46th St. NY, NY website
