THE AVENGERS: EARTH’S MIGHTIEST HEROES Hits DVD – Today!

I love superhero cartoons. When done right they rival the best that comic books have to offer. For years superhero animation has been the domain of DC Comics and Warner Bros. animation. For over a decade people watched the DC cartoons that were put out under the auspices of Bruce Timm and wondered, why not Marvel? When will Marvel characters start getting this kind of high quality animation?

Enter: The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes!

Today The Avengers: The Earth's Mightiest Heroes hits DVD in two volumes. Here's what the they include:

Volume 1:
1.    Iron Man Is Born!
2.    Thor The Mighty
3.    Hulk Versus The World
4.    Meet Captain America
5.    The Man in the Ant Hill
6.    Breakout: Part 1
7.    Breakout: Part 2

Volume 2:
8.   Some Assembly Required
9.   Living Legend
10. Everything Is Wonderful
11. Panther’s Quest
12. Gamma World: Part 1
13. Gamma World: Part 2

I am going to write up a more in-depth review of the DVD sets later in the week, but in the meantime, enjoy a clip from the show:

The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes took a little break in season one after the excellent three part Kang storyline, but it returns with new episodes on Sunday May 15,

Comments

  1. May 15th cannot get here fast enough. I’ve missed this.

  2. Excellent series.  Good for adults and kids.

  3. As I understand it, it’s also being released on Region 2. Challenge extended, DC. Get me my remaining Batman TAS boxsets now!

  4. Fantastic, I can not wait for this to come back!!

  5. Yay to the show, but why do they spoonfeed us the seasons?  I’m still waiting on my complete Season One of Batman: Brave and the Bold on blu-ray!

  6. Can’t wait to pick this up!

  7. I find it annoying that they release these in seperate volumes.  I’m with MostExtremeBrian.  I would much rather buy the complete season altogether than in little packets.  The show looks great too.

  8. Vol1 is like all the mini episodes and ends in the Pilot…

  9. It’s alright. Not liking the black Nick Fury or the movie version of Iron Man…these two things are just plain stupid.

    BUT

Season two….other than messing up Cap’s costume to look like the ‘ultimate’ version they are going to have the GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY!!!! Starlord! Quasar (Phyla-vel), Adam Warlock, GROOT AND ROCKET RACCOON!!!!! Hell fraggin’ yeah! Give me Rocket Raccoon and Groot and I don’t care how bad anything else is, lol

  10. @MosteXtremeBrian
They’re misers. WB did the same thing w/The Justice League and Superman:TAS. Look how long it took to get a decent set of Batman:TAS. I can’t understand why they’re so timid with the product.

  11. Don’t get too far ahead of yourselves Marvelites.  Yeah, its a good show and a nice progression from Marvel’s other offerings, but there is a long way to go before Marvel is even coming close to DC in the animated format.

  12. i want this on blu-ray!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. Blu-ray and I’ll buy it.

  14. …still mourning spectacular spider-man

  15. I really wish cartoons didn’t do this.

I desperatly want to buy Spectacular Spider-Man for example, but it’s split into four or five volumes PER season. Each one of those volumes contains 3 or 4 episodes yet still costs the same amount (if not more) then every other other DVD/season.

If they released Spectacular Spider-Man as a full season one and two DVD/Blu-Ray – same with Avengers: EMH i’d run out and buy them right now. The volume method of distribution is a total scam

  16. After Spectacular Spidey, I was worried that Marvel just didn’t have the chops to produce something on the level of DC’s animated offerings. And yet, here we are. Great, fun Avengers action in the classic style.

  17. Do people really think that animation is going to look any better in Blueray over dvd?

  18. spectacular spider-man was great.

  19. @origamikid, the first season of Spectacular Spider-Man was released in one package, but of course after the first four volumes. Spectacular Spider-Man: The Complete First Season is currently listed at $14.99 in Best Buy, but the Second Season hasn’t been released in one set. You would have to buy vol. 5 – 8 at $9.99 a pop. No thanks.

Spectacular Spider-Man was a great series. Who screwed that up, Disney?

  20. @ericmci, YES!! Considering that current animation’s rendering is all done digitally in high def……why wouldn’t you want Avengers/batman B&TB/Young Justice in blu ray?!?!? I would say for the 90’s batman or superman TAS you won’t see much difference, and stick with the DVDs.

  21. I am going to pick these up for my son.
We are excited about the new season!

  22. If this is a result of Disney buying Marvel, I’m all for it now. Though it leaves toward movie version, the show is great. Especially all the hidden characters.

  23. I will keep the Spectacular Spider Man train rolling.  Great show.  Like(d) it better than the Avengers so far.
